Scope
YY/T 1612-2018 is the English-translated version of 医用灭菌蒸汽质量的测试方法.
YY/T 1612-2018 is the Chinese pharmaceutical industry standard that gives the methods for testing the quality of the steam used in medical device sterilization, such as the steam of a pressure steam sterilizer or of an ethylene oxide process.
It sets out how to measure the non-condensable gas content, the dryness, the superheat and the steam condensate, the parameters that decide whether steam will reach and hold the sterilizing conditions inside a load.
The limits themselves are left to the product standards, with some values reproduced in an appendix for information. Hospitals, sterilization plants and the laboratories that check them use it. Issued on 28 September 2018, it has applied since 1 October 2019.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard applies to the quality testing of steam used in medical device sterilization processes.
Example. Steam used in sterilization processes such as pressure steam sterilization and ethylene oxide sterilization.
This standard specifies the test methods for non-condensing gas content, dryness, superheat, steam condensate and other quality parameters of sterilization steam.
Note. The requirements of the above steam quality parameters can be found in the corresponding product standards. Some steam quality requirements are given in Appendix A.

3.1 Saturated steam sataturatedteam
Evaporation and liquefaction are in dynamic equilibrium when the number of molecules entering the vapor space per unit time is equal to the number of molecules in the return liquid. steam.
3.2 Superheated steam
Water vapor at a temperature above the boiling point of water at the corresponding pressure.
3.3 Non-condensable gas
Air and other gases that do not condense under steam sterilization conditions.
4 Overview
4.1 Test environmental conditions should meet the following requirements.
a) Ambient temperature. 5 ° C ~ 40 ° C;
b) relative humidity. no more than 85%;
