Scope

YY/T 0994-2015 is the English-translated version of 磁刺激设备.

YY/T 0994 covers magnetic stimulation equipment, the devices that induce current in nerve tissue with a rapidly changing magnetic field rather than through electrodes on the skin. Transcranial magnetic stimulation is used in China for depression, for motor pathway assessment and increasingly in rehabilitation, and peripheral magnetic stimulation for pain and muscle activation. This document sets the requirements such equipment has to meet and the test methods that verify them, covering the field the coil produces and its distribution, the pulse characteristics and repetition rate, the coil heating that limits a session, and the safety measures that address the seizure risk of high-frequency stimulation. The standard carries Amendment 1 of 2023. For a manufacturer, this is the product-specific text a Chinese registration is assessed against.
