Scope
YY 0175-2005 is the English-translated version of 手术刀柄.
YY 0175-2005 is a mandatory Chinese medical device and pharmaceutical industry standard for the scalpel handle. It gives the classification and naming of handles, the requirements they have to satisfy, the test methods, the inspection rules and the provisions for marking, packaging, transport and storage.
It applies to handles that take a fitted scalpel blade and are then used to cut human soft tissue. The standard quotes GB/T 1220, GB/T 2828.1, GB/T 2829, GB 8662, YY 0174 and YY/T 1052, and it is classified under ICS 11.040.30.
Issued by the State Food and Drug Administration, it replaces the recommended standard YY/T 0175-1994 and makes the requirements mandatory. Issued on 18 July 2005, it has applied since 1 January 2006.
