1 Scope

This section YS/T 990 specifies the method for determination of copper matte bismuth content.

This section applies to the determination of copper in ice bismuth content. Determination of the range of 0.10% to 0.50%.

2 Method summary

Samples with hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, bromine decomposition. Salts dissolved in nitric acid, in dilute nitric acid medium, atomic absorption spectrometer wavelength 223.1nm at using air - acetylene flame measured absorbance of bismuth, according to the standard curve method to calculate the amount of bismuth.

3 Reagents

Unless otherwise indicated in the analysis using only recognized as analytical grade reagents and distilled or deionized water or equivalent purity.

3.1 ammonium fluoride.

3.2 hydrochloric acid (rho = 1.19g/mL).

3.3 nitric acid (rho = 1.42g/mL).

3.4 nitric acid (11).

3.5 bromine.

3.6 bismuth standard stock solution. Weigh 1.0000g bismuth (wBi>=99.99%), placed in 250mL beaker, add 50mL nitrate (3.4), low heat until completely dissolved, boil to remove nitrogen oxides, remove the cooled and transferred to 1000mL volumetric flask, add 50mL of nitric acid supplement (3.3), dilute to the mark and mix. This solution 1mL 1mg containing bismuth.

3.7 bismuth standard solution. Pipette 50.00mL standard bismuth stock solution (3.6) in 100mL volumetric flask, was added 10mL of nitric acid (3.4), with Dilute with water to volume, and mix. This solution 1mL containing 500µg bismuth.

4 Instrument

Atomic absorption spectrometer, with a bismuth hollow cathode lamp.

Under optimum working conditions for those who can reach the following indicators can be used.

--- Characteristic concentration. the test solution is consistent with the measurement of the solution, the concentration of bismuth features should not exceed 0.20µg/mL.

--- Precision. measuring the absorbance of 11 with the highest concentration of the standard solution, the standard deviation should not exceed 0.3% of the average absorbance;

The absorbance measured 11 times the minimum concentration of the standard solution (not a "zero" standard solution), and the standard deviation should not exceed the maximum concentration 0.5% of the mean absorbance of standard solution.

--- Linear curve. the curve according to concentration, divided into five sections, the difference between the absorbance of the absorbance difference between the highest and the lowest segment Ratio of not less than 0.70.
