1 Scope

This section provides the determination of bismuth in the amount of mercury.

This section applies to the determination of bismuth in the amount of mercury. Measurement range (mass fraction). 0.00003% - 0.00006%.

2 Method summary

The sample is dissolved in nitric acid in a nitric acid solution, stannous chloride as a reducing agent, with argon as the carrier gas, and the resulting mercury vapor atomic import raw Sub fluorescence spectrometer measured.

3 Reagents

3.1 Commercially available reagents

Nitric acid (rho1.42g/mL), pure class distinctions.

3.2 Solution

3.2.1 Nitric acid (7 + 93)

3.2.2 stannous chloride solution (15g/L). Weigh 1.5g stannous chloride (SnCl2 · 2H2O) was dissolved in 100mL of hydrochloric acid (5 + 95) with a time of Now equipped.

3.2.3 potassium dichromate solution (50g/L).

3.3 Standard solution

3.3.1 Storage mercury standard solution. Weigh 0.1354g advance with sulfuric drier 24h mercuric chloride (mass fraction >=99.9%) solution Small amount of water, 50mL of nitric acid was added (3.1), 10mL potassium dichromate solution (3.2.3), transferred to 1000mL volumetric flask, diluted with water to the mark, and mix the solution 1mL containing 0.1mg of mercury.

3.3.2 Mercury standard solution A. Pipette 10mL mercury standard stock solution (3.3.1) in 100mL flask, add 5mL nitric acid (3.1), 1mL potassium dichromate solution (3.2.3) diluted with water to volume, and mix this solution 1mL containing 10µg mercury.

3.3.3 Mercury standard solution B. Pipette 1.00mL mercury standard solution A (3.3.2) in 100mL flask, add 5mL nitric acid (3.1), 1mL potassium dichromate solution (3.2.3) diluted with water to volume, and mix this solution 1mL containing 0.1µg of mercury.

4 Instruments and devices

Atomic fluorescence spectrometer, with a high-intensity mercury hollow cathode lamp.

Under optimum working conditions for those who can reach the following indicators can be used;

Detection limit. not more than 1ng/mL.

Precision. Measuring 0.1µg/mL standard solution of mercury in fluorescent intensity 10 times the standard deviation should not exceed the average fluorescence intensity of 5.0%.

Linear curve. The curve is divided into five sections according to concentration, than the difference between the absorbance of the absorbance difference between the highest and the lowest segment, it should not be less than 0.9.

Readings; 700mL/min. atomic fluorescence spectrometer with reference to the working conditions. Lamp current. 35mA;.; carrier gas flow negative high voltage 275V Room. 18s; Delay Time. 6s.
