YD/T 7072-2026 specifies the external dimensions of the head and torso simulator (HATS) used for mobile internet network speech quality evaluation, based on Chinese human body size characteristics, and its electroacoustic characteristics, including sound emission, sound pickup and free-field acoustic diffraction.

The document applies to the basic performance requirements of such simulators. They are used in testing digital mobile terminal calls, in-vehicle, airborne and shipborne terminal calls, conference telephone systems, building intercom systems and other human-to-human and human-machine voice interaction. It covers acoustic measurement in air and does not apply to measurement that relies on vibration conduction paths, such as bone conduction. It is used by test laboratories, equipment manufacturers and operators. It is a voluntary standard, as shown by the /T in its code. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 1 June 2026 and takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard.
