This document defines the terms and definitions for MPO type small outside diameter optical fibre connectors. It specifies the classification, structural form, interface pattern, mating dimensions, optical performance, restricted substance content and reliability requirements, describes the corresponding test methods, and specifies inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage. It applies to the design, development, production and inspection of MPO type small outside diameter single-mode optical fibre connectors. MTP and other multi-fibre connectors may use it as a reference.

The document is used by connector manufacturers, by test and inspection laboratories, and by cable assembly makers, equipment suppliers and network builders who buy the connectors. It is Part 1 of the series on small outside diameter optical fibre connectors. It is a voluntary standard issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on 1 June 2026 and effective from 1 September 2026. It is a new standard.
