Scope
YD/T 7001-2026 is the English-translated version of 协议无关组播(PIM)协议报文打包技术要求.
YD/T 7001-2026 sets out the technical requirements for the packing of Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) protocol messages. It covers the general requirements for message packing, the packing of null register messages, the packing of join/prune messages and the packing of assert messages. The document serves as guidance for the design and implementation of the PIM protocol for IP multicast, and for the design, development and testing of network devices that run PIM.
It is used by router and switch manufacturers, by software developers who implement multicast protocols, and by test laboratories and operators who need to check how PIM messages are built. The standard is voluntary, as the /T in its code shows. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued it on 1 June 2026, and it takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard, with no earlier edition replaced.
