This document sets technical requirements for the application data transmission protocol between terminals and platforms in a smart gas meter system based on narrow band internet of things (NB-IoT). It deals with the way meter terminals and the platform exchange application data.

It applies to the design, testing and acceptance of the interaction protocol between terminals and platforms in an internet of things smart gas meter system. Meter manufacturers, platform developers, gas utilities and test laboratories are the likely users. The standard is voluntary. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued it on 1 June 2026, and it takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard and is one of a group of documents on NB-IoT smart gas meter systems.
