YD/T 6957.1-2026 defines the terms for the 2.5Gb/s optical transceiver sub-assembly used in the main and secondary units of fibre-to-the-room (FTTR) systems, referred to as the 2.5Gb/s FTTR optical sub-assembly. It sets technical requirements for the optical path budget and optical distribution network, the optical interface, appearance, reliability and restricted substances. It also describes the matching test methods and sets out inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage.

The document applies to the design, development, production and testing of 2.5Gb/s FTTR optical sub-assemblies. Optical module makers, FTTR equipment manufacturers and test laboratories are the usual users. It is a voluntary industry standard of the communications sector, issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on 1 June 2026 and effective from 1 September 2026. It is Part 1 of the series and is a new standard.
