This document belongs to the series on broadband customer networking over the public telecommunication network, for fiber-to-the-room (FTTR). It specifies the technical requirements for extending optical-layer operation, administration and maintenance (OAM) capabilities from the passive optical network (PON) to FTTR. The requirements include the management and control architecture of FTTR based on optical-layer OAM, functional requirements, equipment interfaces and management and control protocol requirements.
The standard applies to FTTR systems in home networks and in commercial office networks, and other private networks may also use it for reference. Equipment manufacturers, telecom operators, network designers and test laboratories are typical users. It is a voluntary standard (code with /T). It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 1 June 2026 and takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard.

YD/T 6882-2026 is a recommended industry standard of the People's Republic of China in the Telecom sector, approved and issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on 1 June 2026, with effect from 1 September 2026.
It is administered by the China Communications Standards Association.

1 Scope
