Scope
YD/T 6863-2026 is the English-translated version of 5G专网商用密码应用技术指南.
YD/T 6863-2026 gives guidance on applying commercial cryptography (the ShangMi algorithm suite used in China) in 5G private networks. The guidance covers four aspects: commercial cryptography in the access network, in the core network, in secure communication between domains, and in operation and maintenance management. It is written for private 5G networks that an operator builds on an independent basis, and it explains how cryptographic protection is to be applied across each part of such a network.
The guide is used by telecom operators that plan and build independent 5G private networks, by equipment vendors, and by security designers and integrators working on these networks. It is a voluntary standard, as shown by the /T in its code. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 15 April 2026 and takes effect on 1 August 2026. It is a new standard.
