YD/T 6850-2026 establishes the security architecture for proximity based services (ProSe) in the 5G mobile communication network, and specifies the security requirements, security procedures and security services of 5G ProSe. It applies to product development, network planning and network construction that involve the security technology of proximity communication in 5G mobile networks.

Equipment manufacturers, 5G network operators, network planners and security evaluators are the likely users. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in its code shows, and was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It was issued on 15 April 2026 and takes effect on 1 August 2026. It is a new standard and replaces no earlier edition. The English translation gives international vendors and operators a full view of the architecture, requirements and procedures set for 5G proximity communication security in China.
