YD/T 6818-2026 specifies security protection for pluggable networking devices used in vehicles, meaning devices that can be inserted into and removed from the vehicle. It covers the security assurance conditions for the pluggable device, hardware security requirements, communication security management requirements, firmware security requirements and data security requirements, and it describes the corresponding test methods. The document provides technical guidance and a basis for research and development, testing and related security work on on-board pluggable networking devices.

The standard is voluntary (code with /T). Device manufacturers, vehicle makers that integrate such devices, developers of firmware and test laboratories are the likely users. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 15 April 2026 and takes effect on 1 August 2026. It is a new standard.
