YD/T 6811-2026 provides guidance on the security management of wireless local area networks in public places. The guidance covers basic equipment security, wireless service security and management security. It is intended for those who build and provide public WLAN services and is used to guide the design, construction, operation and maintenance of such networks, so that the public can use the wireless services offered in public places conveniently and safely.

Being a guide, it is voluntary, as the /T in the code shows. Network builders, service providers and the operators of venues that offer public Wi-Fi are the main readers, and managers who must set up security practices for such networks can use it as a reference. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the document; it was issued on 15 April 2026 and takes effect on 1 August 2026. It is a new standard.
