YD/T 6777-2026 specifies requirements for protecting personal information throughout its whole life cycle in internet education services, namely its collection, storage, processing and use. It also sets out requirements for protecting the rights and interests of users in personal information processing activities. The document applies to companies that provide internet education services, so that they can regulate the personal information handling in their own products and services.

It also applies to regulators and third-party testing bodies when they test and assess internet education applications. Operators of online education platforms, application developers, test laboratories and supervising authorities are therefore its main users. It is a voluntary standard issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on 15 April 2026 and effective from 1 August 2026. It is a new standard.
