YD/T 6711-2026 gives the requirements for quantifying the carbon footprint of optical cable. It covers the goal and scope of the study, the inventory analysis, the impact assessment, the interpretation of results, and the product carbon footprint report and declaration. It applies to carbon footprint quantification studies of optical cable products, which include the various types of optical cable, optical fibre and optical fibre preform.

Optical cable and fibre manufacturers, sustainability and environmental management staff, third-party verifiers and customers who request carbon footprint information from suppliers can use it to carry out and report such studies on a consistent basis. It is a voluntary industry standard (code with /T) of the communications sector, approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It was issued on 11 March 2026 and takes effect on 1 June 2026. It is a new standard and does not replace an earlier edition.
