Part 2 of the YD/T 6676 series covers the pluggable erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) in the quad small form-factor pluggable (QSFP) package, referred to as the pluggable EDFA. It defines terms and abbreviations, sets technical requirements for performance parameters, appearance, laser safety, restricted substances, reliability and electromagnetic compatibility, and describes the corresponding test methods. It also sets rules for inspection, marking, packaging, transport and storage.

The document applies to the design, development, production and inspection of pluggable erbium-doped fiber amplifiers in QSFP package. It is used by amplifier and optical module manufacturers, by makers of optical transmission equipment, by network operators and by test laboratories. It is a voluntary standard, as shown by the /T in its code. It was approved and issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on 1 June 2026 and takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard.
