YD/T 6640-2026 specifies the technical requirements and test methods for the edge cloud in industrial internet edge computing. The functional requirements cover infrastructure resources, data processing, capability exposure, edge intelligence, collaboration, operation and maintenance management, and security, and each is paired with its corresponding test method. The document applies to testing and selecting edge clouds. Other similar edge computing infrastructure may follow it by reference.

The standard is used by edge cloud vendors, by test laboratories that verify functions, and by industrial enterprises and integrators who compare and choose edge cloud products. It is a voluntary standard, as shown by the /T in its code. It was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on 11 March 2026 and takes effect on 1 June 2026. It is a new standard.
