Part 3 of the YD/T 4859 series covers the 100Gb/s single channel active optical cable transceiver, referred to as the 100Gb/s AOC. It sets technical requirements for the characteristics of the transmission optical cable, electrical characteristics, power consumption, package form, outline dimensions and pin arrangement, appearance, restricted substances, reliability and electromagnetic compatibility, and describes the corresponding test methods. It also sets rules for inspection, marking, packaging, transport and storage.

The document applies to the design, development, production and inspection of 100Gb/s AOC in application scenarios such as data centers. It is used by cable and module manufacturers, by data center operators and equipment makers who buy them, and by test laboratories. It is a voluntary standard, as shown by the /T in its code. It was approved and issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on 1 June 2026 and takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard.
