YB/T 6531-2026 specifies test methods for the electrochemical performance of hard carbon materials. It covers test conditions, reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, sample pretreatment, test procedure, processing of test data, permissible differences and the test report. It applies to testing hard carbon negative electrode materials for sodium-ion batteries for first charge specific capacity, first discharge specific capacity and first coulombic efficiency.

Hard carbon producers, battery makers, research institutes and testing laboratories can use it to evaluate and compare materials. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in its code indicates. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 15 July 2026 and takes effect on 1 February 2027. It is a new standard.
