YB/T 6524-2026 covers weathering steel wire rod for cold heading. It sets out terms and definitions, ordering content, the designation method for grades, manufacturing process, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and the quality certificate. It applies to hot-rolled cold heading steel wire rod with a nominal diameter of 5.0 mm to 52.0 mm, used for weathering bolts and nuts in railway and highway bridges, tower and mast structures, boiler steel structures, industrial and civil building steel structures, power transmission and telecommunication towers, lifting machinery and wind power.

Wire rod mills, fastener manufacturers, structural steel users and testing laboratories can use it. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in its code shows. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 15 July 2026 and takes effect on 1 February 2027. It is a new standard.
