YB/T 6476-2026 sets out technical requirements for machine-vision-based slag carry-over detection systems for converters, as an application of artificial intelligence in the steel industry. It covers the system architecture, equipment requirements, data requirements, system function requirements and system performance requirements. It applies to the automatic detection of slag carried over through the tap hole while a converter is tapping steel at a steel enterprise.

Converter steelmaking plants, process and automation engineers, and the suppliers of detection systems can use it when specifying or assessing such equipment. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in its code indicates. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 15 July 2026 and takes effect on 1 February 2027. It is a new standard.
