YB/T 6474-2026 sets out technical requirements for machine-vision-based intelligent scrap grading systems, as an application of artificial intelligence in the steel industry. It covers the system architecture, equipment requirements, data requirements, system function requirements and system performance requirements. It applies to the design and development of intelligent grading systems for bulk scrap steel at steel enterprises and scrap recycling enterprises.

Steel mills, scrap processors and recyclers, and the suppliers of vision and grading systems can use it when specifying, building or assessing such equipment. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in its code indicates. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 15 July 2026 and takes effect on 1 February 2027. It is a new standard.
