YB/T 6432-2026 specifies a thermal analysis method for determining the solidus and liquidus temperatures of iron and steel. It sets out the principle of the method, the test equipment and its calibration, the preparation of test pieces, the measurement steps, the treatment of data and the test report. It applies to the determination of both the solidus temperature and the liquidus temperature of iron and steel.

Steel producers, metallurgical research institutes, casting and process development teams and testing laboratories are the intended users. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in the code indicates. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 16 April 2026 and takes effect on 1 November 2026. It is a new standard.
