3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 35360-2017, as well as the following terms and definitions, are applicable to this document.

3.1 Bevel Box

A device that transmits torque at a fixed angle and transmission ratio between the input terminal and the output terminal. Its application diagram is shown in Figure 1.

3.2 Starting Torque

The torque required for the input shaft to move from rest to rotation, in Newton meters (N·m).

3.3 Axial Free Clearance

The displacement of the input terminal when a certain axial force is applied to the input terminal of the assembly, in millimeters (mm).

3.4 Circumferential Steering Clearance

The relative rotation angle between the input shaft and the output shaft of the assembly under the action of a certain torque, in degrees (°).

4 General Requirements

4.1 Requirements for Installation and Layout of the Tested Assembly Bench

4.1.1 When testing the assembly, it shall be installed on the test device with reference to the layout of the entire vehicle.

4.1.2 When testing the assembly, the ambient temperature ranges from 18°C to 32°C; the relative humidity ranges from 45% to 75%, and the atmospheric pressure ranges from 86 kPa to 106 kPa.

4.2 Test Accuracy of Test Instruments, Meters and Other Test Equipment

4.2.1 Force. The accuracy of the force test shall not be less than 0.5%FS.

4.2.2 Speed. The accuracy of the speed test shall not be less than 0.5%FS.

4.2.3 Torque. The accuracy of the torque test shall not be less than 0.5%FS.

4.2.4 Rotation angle. The accuracy of the rotation angle test shall not be less than 0.5%FS.

4.2.5 Displacement. The accuracy of the displacement test shall not be less than 0.5%FS.

4.2.6 Decibel (noise). The factory-tested decibel test instrument shall not be lower than a Level

2 sound level meter.

4.3 Test Samples

Test samples shall be manufactured in accordance with the drawings and technical documents approved by the prescribed procedures, and their materials, dimensions, heat treatment and assembly status shall comply with the specifications of the drawings and technical documents.
