QB/T 8214-2026 is the English-translated version of 生物基丁二酸.

QB/T 8214-2026 is the light industry standard for bio-based succinic acid, that is, succinic acid produced from biological raw materials and not from petroleum. Succinic acid is an organic acid used as a chemical building block and in several industries. The document treats bio-based succinic acid as a product and sets out the technical provisions that apply to it, so that producers and buyers can refer to the same text.

The standard will be used by producers of bio-based succinic acid, by chemical, plastics and other manufacturers that buy it as a raw material, by testing laboratories and quality control bodies, and by purchasers who need an agreed technical basis for supply contracts. It is voluntary, as the /T in the code shows, and applies where a contract, a customer or another rule refers to it. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved and issued it on 13 February 2026, and it takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new document and does not replace an earlier edition.
