NB/T 10399-2020 is a recommended energy industry standard of China that gathers the safety requirements for onshore shale gas work. It covers exploration, development and production, and extends to the pipeline storage and transport of the gas.

Those same activities define where it applies, and it is written for onshore operations only. It rests on a long list of cited documents, among them GB/T 22513, GB 50349, AQ 2012, the NB/T 14002 series, NB/T 14006, NB/T 14010 and NB/T 14012.2, together with petroleum industry standards such as SY/T 5727, SY/T 5974, SY/T 6124 and SY/T 6989.

It carries the Chinese classification E09 and the international class 75.010. Issued on 23 October 2020, it has applied since 1 February 2021.
