Scope
NB/T 10340-2019 is the English-translated version of 水电工程坑探规程.
NB/T 10340-2019 is the Chinese energy industry specification for pit exploration on hydropower projects, meaning the excavation of exploratory adits, shafts, pits and trenches to reveal the geological conditions of rock and soil.
It covers preparation and work planning, then adit driving: blasthole layout, drilling, blasting, ventilation, mucking, support, drainage and roadheader tunnelling, as well as vertical and inclined shafts, pits and trenches, and adits driven beneath river beds.
Separate chapters deal with acceptance and quality assessment and with work safety and occupational health, and annexes give record forms, explosive consumption and limits for hazardous substances.
The revision adds carbon dioxide expansion rock breaking and roadheader work. It replaces DL/T 5050-2010. Issued on 30 December 2019, it has applied since 1 July 2020.

According to the requirements of Neng Technology (2016) No. 238), the procedure preparation team has conducted extensive investigations and studies, carefully summed up practical experience, and participated in the Examine relevant domestic standards, and revise this regulation based on extensive opinions.
The main technical contents of this regulation are. operation preparation, caverns, wells, pits and troughs, river bottom caves, and acceptance And quality assessment, production safety and occupational health.
The main technical content of the revision of this regulation is.
--Added content related to site survey and operation plan.
--Added the content related to carbon dioxide expansion and rock breaking.
--- Added the content of the "Cantilever Tunneling Machine Tunneling" section.
--Added the content related to the upslope well operation.
- Deleted the contents related to the detonating cord detonation network, compression blasting and throwing blasting in the original regulations.
-Deleted the original regulations appendix B (informative appendix) different distance, different wire diameter transmission power related content.
