Introduction

The Aquilariaspp. tree species is the Appendix II species of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), while agarwood Aquilariasinensis (Aquilaria incense) in the genus is the National Catalogue of Key Protected Wild Plants (First Batch) (1999) Secondary protection plants.

In order to protect and sustainable use of agarwood resources and promote the healthy development of China's agarwood industry, this standard has been formulated.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods and judgments of agarwood.

This standard applies to the inspection and determination of agarwood raw materials and their products.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions as defined by LY/T 1788-2008 apply to this document.

Aquilaria species

A plant species belonging to the genus Aquilaria genus according to plant taxonomy.

Agarwood Wood Aquilariawood Agarwood the xylem organization of the genus Aquilaria.

Agarwood

A natural mixture of xylem tissue and its secretions formed during the growth of the genus Aquilaria.
