Scope

LY/T 1167-2003 (Forestry machinery. Portable chain-saw front hand-guard. Dimensions and clearances) is available as an English-translated PDF.

LY/T 1167-2003 — This standard specifies the size and clearance of the portable chain saw front hand guard and its opening. These dimensions and clearances ensure that the front hand guard is adequate.

Taking advantage of its safety protection function, the front hand guard not only acts as a barrier between the operator's hand and the saw chain, but also acts as a manual saw chain brake.

Drive unit. For chainsaws with a ring-shaped front handle, this standard does not apply to the front handle area on the right side of the upper support bar (viewed from the back).

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces LY/T 1167-2003 "The size and gap of the hand guard before the chain saw", compared with LY/T 1167-2003, mainly the technical changes are as follows.

--- Modified the name of the standard, from the original "chain saw front hand guard size and gap" to "forestry machinery portable chain saw front Hand guard size and clearance";

---Modified the contents of the "scope" (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2003 edition);

--- Added the content of "normative references" (see Chapter 2);

--- Added the words "Figure 1 Ring Handle Chainsaw Example - Rear View" in "Terminology and Definitions" (see Chapter 3);

--- Revised the requirements for "the resultant force applied to the hand guard" (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of the 2003 edition);

---Modified the requirements for "size of gauges" (see Chapter 5, Chapter 5 of the 2003 edition);

--- Modified the "Determining the Reference Point X0" (see Chapter 6, Chapter 6 of the 2003 edition);

---Modified the requirements for the "width of the front hand guard" (see 7.1, 7.1 of the 2003 edition);

--- Revised the principle of the passage of the B-type gauge in the "space between the front hand guard and the front handle" (see Chapter 9, 2003, 9th edition) chapter).

This standard uses the translation method equivalent to the international standard ISO 6533:2012 "Forest machinery portable chain saw front hand guard size and Void.

Compared with ISO 6533:2012, this standard has made the following editorial changes.

--- Modified Figure 2, Figure 3, Figure 7, so that its drawing method is in line with China's drawing standards.

The documents of our country that have a consistent correspondence with the international documents referenced in this standard are as follows.

---GB/T 18960-2012 Forestry machinery portable chainsaw vocabulary (ISO 6531:2008, IDT).

This standard is proposed and managed by the National Forestry Machinery Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC61).
