JT/T 1580-2026 sets technical requirements for the multifunctional shipborne terminal used on inland waterway vessels. It applies to the design, production, testing, use and management of this terminal, the on-board unit that brings vessel information and communication functions together on inland ships.

The standard is used by terminal manufacturers and software developers, shipowners and operators on inland waterways, testing laboratories, and the waterway authorities that manage such equipment. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in its code shows. It was approved by the Ministry of Transport, issued on 12 January 2026 and takes effect on 1 May 2026. It is a new standard.
