JT/T 1576-2026 sets out the operating procedures for salvaging sunken ships by tandem lifting, in which a pair of lifting barges is used to raise the wreck. It applies to wreck salvage operations carried out with lifting barges. Lifting operations on large structures in marine engineering may follow the document by reference.

The standard is used by salvage companies, project planners and operation managers, and authorities that supervise salvage work. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in its code shows. It was approved by the Ministry of Transport, issued on 12 January 2026 and takes effect on 1 May 2026. It is a new standard and does not replace an earlier edition.
