Scope
JB/T 5088.3-2014 is the English-translated version of 内燃机 旋装式机油滤清器 第3部分：系列尺寸.
JB/T 5088.3-2014 is the part of the Chinese machinery industry standard JB/T 5088 that fixes the dimensions making spin-on oil filters interchangeable on small and medium power internal combustion engines.
It tabulates the internal and external connection threads, which follow the metric thread series of GB/T 192, GB/T 193, GB/T 197 and GB/T 2516, together with the sealing surface, which must be continuous and free from looseness or cracks.
It then gives the outer diameter and length of the filter, the opening pressure of the bypass valve and the design of the bottom of the metal enclosure. The filter element dimensions that the earlier text carried were dropped when this part was drawn up.
It replaces JB/T 5097-1991, was issued on 6 May 2014 and has applied since 1 October 2014.

Foreword
JB/T 5088 "Internal combustion engines - Spin-on oil filters" is divided into three parts:
- Part 1: Specification;
- Part 2: Test method;
- Part 3: Dimensions.
This Part is Part 3 of JB/T 5088.
This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces JB/T 5097-1991 "Internal combustion engine spin-on oil filter serial size". Compared with JB/T 5097-1991, the main technical changes are as follows:
- ADD the dimensional requirements for the sealing surface; MODIFY the dimensional requirements for the connecting thread (see 3.1);
- DELETE the provisions on filter element size (2.2 of the 1991 edition);
- MODIFY the diameter and length of the filter (see 3.2; 2.4 of the 1991 edition);
- MODIFY the dimensions of the sealing ring (see 3.1, 3.2; 2.5 of the 1991 edition);
- ADD the technical requirements for bypass valve's opening pressure (see 3.3);
- ADD the technical requirements for metal enclosure bottom design (see 3.4).
1 Scope
This Part of JB/T 5088 specifies the main characteristic dimensions of spin-on oil filters for internal combustion engines.
This Part applies to spin-on oil filters (hereinafter referred to as filters), which are used for small and medium-power internal combustion engines.

3 Main dimensions of filters
3.1 Connection thread and sealing surface
The dimensions of the internal and external connection threads and sealing surfaces are as specified in Figure 1 and Table 1. Threads shall comply with the requirements in GB/T 192, GB/T 193, GB/T 197, GB/T 2516.
