HG/T 3879-2006 is the recommended Chinese chemical industry standard for the heat stabilizer methyltin mercaptide TM-19. It fixes the requirements for the product, the test methods, the inspection rules and the provisions for marking, packaging, transport and storage. The standard applies to methyltin mercaptide synthesised from methyltin chloride, or methyltin oxide, with isooctyl thioglycolate or bis(2-ethylhexyl) thioglycolate in the presence of an alkali such as caustic soda or soda ash; in the TM-19 product the mass ratio of monomethyltin mercaptide to dimethyltin mercaptide is about 20/80. Its determinations use GB/T 601, GB/T 603, GB/T 1250, GB/T 1664, GB/T 4472-1984, GB/T 6678, GB/T 6680, GB/T 6682 and GB/T 12008.8. Issued on 26 July 2006, it has applied since 1 March 2007.
