HG/T 3850-2006Red lead (English PDF)

HG/T 3850-2006 is the English-translated version of 红丹.

Red lead, the orange to red pigment made up of lead tetroxide (Pb3O4) with some lead monoxide (PbO), is the product covered by HG/T 3850-2006, a recommended Chinese chemical industry standard. It states the technical requirements for the pigment and the test methods that go with them. Two categories are distinguished, red lead for the paint industry and red lead for other industries, the latter meaning chiefly glass and ceramics. The paint grade is split further into a non-agglomerating type, with a high red lead content, which does not thicken excessively when mixed with linseed oil, and a highly dispersible type. Testing follows GB/T 5211.2-2003, GB/T 5211.3-1985 and GB/T 5211.15-1988, and the standard takes the place of GB/T 1705-1986. Issued on 27 July 2006, it has applied since 11 October 2006.
