Introduction

According to the document user principle, GB/T 18029 "Wheelchair Vehicles" stipulates that wheelchair users, manufacturers, testing institutions and other relevant parties should pay attention

This document provides appropriate test procedures and techniques for measuring important dimensions and mass of manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs including electric mobility scooters

The technical report of ISO /T R13570-1[1] can make a brief explanation to the different parts of GB/T 18029.

Determination of size, mass and operating space

1 Scope

This document describes the testing methods for the dimensions and mass of wheelchair vehicles.

This document describes the method of determining the external dimensions and the movement space required by the reference occupant of a wheelchair in daily life.

This document specifies requirements for size, mass and publication of five informative appendices.

Appendix A provides the detection method of important dimensions, which is a very important performance index of wheelchairs.

Appendix B gives details on pivot widths and commutation widths.

Appendix C gives details on turning diameters.

Appendix D gives detailed information on determining the longitudinal axis and center point of the wheelchair.

Appendix E gives technical guidelines and recommendations for measuring wheelchairs to improve understanding of wheelchair design and construction.

This document applies to manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs (including electric scooters).
