Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document supersedes GB/T 8242.1-1987 "Terminology for Ship Equipment - Marine Equipment" and GB/T 8242.2-1987 "Terminology for Ship Equipment". "Mooring Equipment", GB/T 8242.3-1987 "Terminology for Ship Equipment - Deck Attachments", GB/T 8242.4-1987 "Terminology for Ship Equipment" Compared with GB/T 8242.1~8242.4-1987, the main technical changes in "Lifesaving Equipment" are as follows, except for structural adjustments and editorial modifications.

---Added terms and definitions for marine equipment, steering gear, mast equipment, lifting equipment, and energy-saving devices (see 3.1.1~3.1.5);

1 Scope

GB/T 8242-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the vocabulary of hull outfitting - the anchoring and mooring gear, the hatch covers and doors, the rudders and steering, the masts and rigging, the ladders and railings, and the fittings that turn a hull into a ship. At 35,000 words it replaces GB/T 8242.1-1987, a standard thirty-eight years old. It was issued on 31 December 2025 and has been in force since 1 July 2026, replacing GB/T 8242.1-1987. The document is under the responsibility of the Standardization Administration of China. This page is published from the official record of the 2025 edition; the clause text of a standard this recent is not yet in circulation, and the figures, limits and tables it contains are those of the document itself, delivered in full with the English translation.

This document specifies the general terms and definitions for marine equipment, mooring equipment, deck equipment, lifesaving equipment, and lashing equipment. This document applies to the design, research, production, inspection, use, management, and teaching of ship hull equipment.
