Scope
GB/T 47881-2026 is the English-translated version of 稀土系储氢合金 吸放氢反应热力学性能测试方法.
GB/T 47881-2026 describes a test method for the thermodynamic properties of rare earth-based hydrogen storage alloys during hydrogenation and dehydrogenation, that is, when the alloy absorbs and releases hydrogen.
It sets out the principle of the method and builds on definitions of the pressure-composition isotherm curve, enthalpy change and entropy change. It applies to testing the thermodynamic properties of rare earth-based hydrogen storage alloys in hydrogen absorption and desorption reactions.
Issued on 2 July 2026 and applicable from 1 February 2027. Its normative references include GB 4962, GB/T 6379.2, GB/T 8170, GB/T 15676-2015, GB/T 29918-2023 and GB/T 42656-2023.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".
1 Scope
This document describes a method for testing the thermodynamic properties of rare-earth-based hydrogen storage alloys in hydrogen absorption and desorption reactions.
This document applies to the testing of the thermodynamic properties of rare earth-based hydrogen storage alloys in hydrogen absorption and desorption reactions.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents, through normative references within the text, constitute essential provisions of this document. Dated citations are not included.

3 Terms and Definitions
3.1 Pressure-composition isotherm curve
PCI curve PCIcurve The curve showing the relationship between hydrogen equilibrium pressure and hydrogen content during hydrogen absorption and release processes of a hydrogen storage alloy at a certain temperature. [Source: GB/T 15676-2015, 6.2.8, with modifications]
3.2 Enthalpy change
The heat of reaction per mole of hydrogen gas involved in the reaction during the hydrogen absorption or release process of a hydrogen storage alloy.
Note: Enthalpy change characterizes the thermodynamic stability of hydrogen storage alloys; the larger the absolute value, the more stable the hydride.
3.3 Entropy change
The change in system entropy caused by a unit mole of hydrogen during the hydrogen absorption or release process of a hydrogen storage alloy.
Note: Entropy change characterizes the change in the degree of order of a hydrogen storage alloy system during the process of absorbing or releasing hydrogen.
The PCI curves of the test samples at different temperatures (three temperatures with an interval of more than 20°C) were obtained according to van der Hoffmann.
