Technical Regulations for the Preservation of Silkworm Germplasm Resources

1 Scope

GB/T 47299-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the silkworm gene bank - a domesticated insect that cannot survive without people, whose strains have to be reared every generation to be kept alive, with the rearing, the records and the characterisation of each accession. First edition, in force since 1 October 2026, with the oak silkworm germplasm standard GB/T 47303-2026. It was issued on 31 March 2026 and takes effect on 1 October 2026, as a first edition. The document is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This document establishes the procedures for the preservation of silkworm germplasm resources, describes the methods for preserving silkworm germplasm resources, and stipulates the sharing, utilization, and data preservation. 3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Silkworm varieties or strains with relatively stable genetic traits, consistent morphological characteristics and biological properties, and appropriate names.

Note. This includes local varieties, bred varieties, introduced varieties, gene-mutant lines, and other genetic intermediate materials.

3.2 hibernatingegg The silkworm eggs were produced in the same year and preserved in a diapause state until they were used the following year.

4 Basic Requirements

4.1 Preserved germplasm resources are not lost, and their inherent characteristics are maintained.

4.2 Investigate and record the biological characteristics and economic traits of germplasm resources.
