The management process is planned to consist of nine parts.

1.General Provisions. The purpose is to stipulate the general rules for the classification, compilation, archiving, copyright, and protection of product design data. It forms the foundation and framework for the entire series of standards.

2.Numbering Principles. The purpose is to define the general principles, basic requirements, and numbering methods for product design data files. This method ensures the consistency and traceability of data file identification.

1 Scope

GB/T 46848.8-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering engineering change - the request and its assessment, the impact on other parts and on stock and in-service units, the approval, the effectivity date and the traceability of what changed and why. Change control is where design data management is actually tested. It is one of the seven parts of GB/T 46848 issued together, a first edition, and it belongs with the PLM system requirements of GB/T 47688-2026. It was issued on 31 December 2025 and has been in force since 1 April 2026, as a first edition. The document is under the responsibility of the Standardization Administration of China. This document specifies the principles, classifications, content, and requirements for changing product design data, as well as numbering and version management. 3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 46848.1 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.

4.Change Principles Changes to product design data should follow these principles.

a) The interrelationship between all elements (geometric elements, dimensional elements, etc.) should be ensured;

b) The coordination and consistency among all relevant design documents should be ensured;

c) Changes to the design documents (or simultaneous changes) can only be made after the change notification form has been fully signed and approved.

5.Change category Changes to product design data can be categorized into the following two types.

a) Formal change. 1) Major changes; 2) General changes.

b) Temporary changes.
