1 Scope

This document specifies the general requirements, instruments, equipment, specimens, and general requirements for testing threaded connections in pipeline transportation systems, and establishes the test procedures.

This document also specifies the procedures for test data processing, quality assurance and control, test reporting, and special circumstances.

This document applies to the testing of threaded connections used in pipeline transportation systems in the oil and gas industry.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Application level

A series of test levels determined based on the service conditions of pipelines and risers.

3.2 Batch lot

A group of products produced through continuous operation with consistent chemical composition, processing, and heat treatment.

3.3 Thread connector

A mechanical device that uses threaded connections to connect adjacent components in a pipeline.

Note: Hereinafter referred to as "connector".

3.4 Hook and loop fastener

Damage morphology caused by cold welding tearing on the contact surface of metal materials during sliding or rotation.

3.5 Smelting batch heat

Steel from the same batch produced using the same process.
