1 Scope

GB/T 46726-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering an airport's water - the terminal sanitation, the cooling towers, the aircraft washing and the landscape irrigation, the metering by zone, the reclaimed water and the rainwater harvesting, and the indicators per passenger. First edition, in force from 1 February 2026. Issued on 31 October 2025, it has been in force since 1 February 2026.

This document stipulates the basic requirements and operational management of water conservation in civil airports. This document applies to water conservation management at civil airports; other airports should refer to this document when implementing water conservation management.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 21534 and MH/T 5002-2020, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this document.

3.1 airfield area The area within an airport that is enclosed by buildings and outdoor isolation facilities.

3.2 The area within an airport that includes the terminal building and its associated apron, transportation, and service facilities. [Source: MH/T 5002-2020, 2.1.8]

3.3 Cargo terminal area The area within the airport where cargo aprons, cargo terminals (warehouses), and their supporting facilities are located. [Source: MH/T 5002-2020, 2.1.9]

3.4 The area within the airport containing the maintenance apron, hangar, and related facilities. [Source: MH/T 5002-2020, 2.1.10]

3.5 Areas outside the flight area (3.1), terminal area (3.2), cargo area (3.3), and maintenance area (3.4) within the airport.

Note. This includes facilities and sites such as those for production support by airport management agencies and resident units.
