GB/T 46220-2025 is the English-translated version of 纤维增强塑料复合材料I型疲劳分层扩展起始的试验方法.

GB/T 46220-2025 is the Chinese national test method for the onset of mode I fatigue delamination growth in fibre-reinforced plastic composites. It describes the principle, the test equipment, the specimens, the test procedure, the calculation and the test report.

The test uses the double cantilever beam specimen of GB/T 28891-2012: a fatigue displacement load is applied at a given loading frequency and a constant stress ratio R, the number of cycles at which the delamination starts to grow from the insert is recorded, and the curve of the maximum strain energy release rate against that number of cycles is obtained.

It applies to unidirectional fibre-reinforced plastic composites, while other fibre-reinforced plastic composites may be tested by reference to it. It was issued on 29 August 2025 and has applied since 1 March 2026.

1 Scope

This document describes the principle, test equipment, specimens, test strips, and test methods for the Type I fatigue delamination growth initiation test of fiber reinforced plastic composites. components, test procedures, calculations and test reports.

This document is applicable to the determination of the initiation performance of type I fatigue delamination of unidirectional fiber reinforced plastic composite materials.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 3961 and GB/T 28891-2012 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Fatigue cycles for delamination growth onset; Na

The number of fatigue cycles required before delamination begins to propagate from the embedment.

3.2 Maximum strain energy release rate; GImax

The maximum value of the strain energy release rate within one cycle.

4 Principles

The double cantilever beam (DCB) specimen specified in GB/T 28891-2012 was used to test the maximum strain energy release under different type I fatigue cycles.

At the GImax rate, fatigue displacement load is applied to the specimen at a certain loading frequency and constant stress ratio R, and the fatigue crack growth rate of the specimen is recorded. Starting Na, obtain the GImax-Na curve.

5 Test equipment

The test equipment requirements are consistent with those specified in GB/T 28891-2012.
