1 Scope
This document gives the principles of the test method for chemical shrinkage of cement paste, describes the test method, specifies the test room and equipment, materials and Repeatability and reproducibility of materials and methods.
This document applies to chemical shrinkage testing of Portland cement pastes.
Note. The test methods for chemical shrinkage of cement paste are divided into absolute volume method and apparent volume method.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Chemical shrinkage of cement paste
Volume shrinkage of cement paste due to the hydration reaction between cement particles and mixing water.
4 Principles of the Method
During the process of cement and water reacting to form hydration products, the solid phase volume in the cement-water system gradually increases, but the overall volume of the cement-water system The chemical shrinkage of cement paste can be obtained by measuring the change of water level in the pipette.
5 Laboratory and Equipment
5.1 Laboratory
The temperature in the laboratory should be maintained at 20°C±2°C and the relative humidity should not be lower than 50%.
5.2 Equipment
5.2.1 Balance
5.2.1.1 The maximum weighing range shall be no less than 500 g, and the graduation value shall be no greater than 0.01 g;
5.2.1.2 The maximum weighing range shall not be less than 1 000 g, and the graduation value shall not be greater than 0.1 g.
