GB/T 45603-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the catalogue of light sources a vehicle lamp may be built around — the filament, gas discharge and standardised LED types and what each may be used for, then some three hundred pages of data sheets giving for every type the cap, the dimensions, the filament or emitting surface position and the photometric values, and the measurement methods for the internal parts of H4, H17, H19, HS1 and R2 light sources. At 170,500 words, by far the largest document in the batch. First edition, under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In force from 1 November 2025. Issued on 25 April 2025, it has been in force since 1 November 2025.

1 Scope

This document specifies the requirements for the types of light sources used in motor vehicles and provides a data sheet on the types of light sources used in motor vehicles.

The dimensions, optoelectronic performance parameters and technical requirements are specified.

This document applies to filament light sources, gas discharge lamps, and other types of road lighting and light signal devices used in M, N, L, and O motor vehicles.

Light source and standardized LED light source (referred to as "LED light source").

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB 4785 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 light source

One or more elements emitting visible radiation, having a lamp cap for mechanical and electrical connection, which may be equipped with one or more components for controlling Parts of an element that emits visible radiation.

3.2 Filament light source

A light source in which the only components that emit light when powered are one or more filaments.

3.3 Gas-discharge light source gas-discharge light source

A light source in which the only element that emits light when energized is a discharge arc producing electroluminescence.

3.4 LED light sourceLEDlightsource

A light source in which the only element that emits light when an electric current is applied is one or more solid-state junctions that produce electroluminescence, and may have one or more Components for fluorescence conversion.

Note. LED light source is also called "light emitting diode light source".
