1 Scope

This document describes a test method for determining the linting of fabrics by laundering.

This file is suitable for all kinds of fabrics.

3 Terms and definitions

4 Principle

Place the sample in a certain amount of grade 3 water and perform accelerated washing under specified temperature, time and mechanical conditions.

The sample and washing container are rinsed and the rinsing liquid is collected. The fluff in the tertiary water and the rinsing liquid is collected on the filter material by a filtering device.

After drying, the lint-laden filter material was visually rated to characterize the degree of linting of the sample.

5 Equipment

5.1 Mechanical washing device. It consists of a water bath equipped with a rotating shaft. The rotating shaft radially supports multiple stainless steel washing containers.

(5.2). The rotation speed of the rotating shaft and the washing container is (40 ± 2) r/min. The water bath temperature is controlled by a thermostat to keep the test solution at (40 ±

2)°C, see Figure 1.

Other mechanical devices that can achieve the same results as the equipment specified in 5.1 may also be used in this document.
