GB/T 44732-2024 is the English-translated version of 大字本图书通用技术要求.
GB/T 44732-2024 is the Chinese national standard covering a book set in enlarged type for a reader with low vision — the layout design, the colour and the contrast between ink and paper, the making of charts, the arrangement of pictures alongside text, and the paper and printing, where a sheet that shows through or reflects too much light undoes the enlarged type, together with the inspection of layout, paper and print quality that checks the finished copy. Issued with the braille publication layout standard GB/T 44725-2024. First edition, under the National Press and Publication Administration (National Copyright Administration). In force from 1 February 2025. Issued on 26 October 2024, it has been in force since 1 February 2025.

1 Scope
This document specifies technical requirements for the publication of large print books and describes testing methods.
This document is suitable for editing and publishing large-print books for people with low vision, and for other people with special reading needs due to vision problems.
This book is suitable for reference by middle-aged and elderly people.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 large print
Through barrier-free design such as enlarging font size, the publications are suitable for people with low vision to read without barriers, and are convenient for other people with special vision problems to read.
Publications for people with special reading needs.
Note. Low vision refers to the best corrected visual acuity of both eyes greater than or equal to 0.05 and less than 0.3.Best corrected visual acuity refers to the visual acuity that can be achieved after refractive correction with the most appropriate lenses. The best vision.
