Scope

GB/T 44110-2024 is the English-translated version of 卫星导航定位探空系统 地面接收机.

GB/T 44110-2024 specifies the ground receiver of a satellite navigation positioning radiosonde system, the equipment that tracks a weather balloon and receives its telemetry. Upper air soundings are the backbone of numerical weather prediction, and in the GNSS era the wind is derived from the sonde's own navigation solution rather than from tracking the balloon optically or by radar, which puts the ground receiver at the centre of the measurement: it has to acquire and hold a weak signal from a transmitter that climbs to thirty kilometres and drifts a hundred kilometres downrange, in all weathers, from an unattended station. The standard sets the composition of the receiver, then the technical requirements: the general and safety requirements, the technical indicators for sensitivity, tracking range, data rate and positioning performance, the functional requirements, the power supply adaptability, the environmental adaptability and the reliability. It then covers the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage. For a manufacturer supplying the Chinese meteorological network, this is the acceptance text. It took effect on 28 May 2024.
