Scope

GB/T 43857-2024 is the English-translated version of 教学设施安全和管理要求.

China's national safety and management requirements for teaching facilities. The scope is the school itself as a physical environment and the arrangements for keeping the people in it safe, which covers a wider range than a building code does: the structural and fire safety of the premises, the equipment in laboratories and workshops, the sports facilities, the food service, the transport, and the management systems that keep all of it in order. The management half is what such a standard adds. A school's hazards are not unusual individually - they are those of a building, a kitchen, a laboratory and a playground - but the population is uniquely vulnerable, changes every year, and does not assess risk for itself. So the requirements concentrate on the responsibilities: who inspects what and how often, who is trained, how an incident is reported and how the emergency arrangements are exercised.
